We finally got an update. It'd been 6 months since he was evaluated, more than 4 months since we got the referral, and more than 2 months since we started bugging Holt for an update, and this afternoon we finally got one. According to the (probably inaccurate) measurements, he's grown 5 inches and gained 7 lbs. That makes him surprisingly large for a kid in an Ethiopian orphanage, which means the info is probably wrong. We'll bring all the 18 mos.-3T clothes we have, just in case.
In the updated information we received, it said he had recently had a cold. Granted, considering illnesses kids could have, a cold is nothing bad, but I hate getting a cold and sometimes a cold can really just beat me down - and I'm an adult with a nice supply of NyQuil. Poor E had a cold and he had no mom or dad with him to comfort him and wipe his nose and give him some Triaminic while singing "A Spoon Full of Sugar". Next time, little one, we will be with you to comfort you.
The info also said he is stubborn, attention-seeking (apparently he wants the nannies to give him their full attention), and affectionate. That sounds like a pretty normal 2-year-old to me. =o)
We've also been told that we will probably be submitted for the embassy date on September 7th! Things could change, of course, and nothing's final till we're actually there, but this is more definite than anything we've heard yet. Either way, we know there is very little chance that we would not go at either that date or Sept. 21st, so August is officially our last full month without our son home - and THAT is ridiculously exciting.
Aww, hearing about his personality made him even more real to me. I'm so excited to get to hold your little Elijah in just a few more days!!!
